An opportunity for an Import Manager is available at this South African Owned Logistics Service Provider, specialising in all Ocean, Airfreight, Road freight/Cross-border Africa, Specialised Projects, and Customs Clearance Services & Solutions.
Minimum requirements:
Matric | Relevant Logistics/Management Qualification will be advantageous
Strong knowledge of INCOTERMS
Minimum of 3-5 years working experience in an Imports Management role within the Freight/Logistics Industry
Sound knowledge and operational experience in Imports process (Air/Ocean Road Freight), Customs Tariffs and Port Charges
Fully Computer Literate in all MS Office Suite Applications (Excel | Intermediate – Advanced)
Working experience on Cargo Wise & EDI Enterprise Application will be advantageous
Strong management and administration skills
Sound understanding of Human Resources and Performance Management processes
Analytical and love for numerical problem solving
Own Vehicle and Drivers Licence
Key Performance Areas:
· Responsible for complete staff and operational management of Import Department
· Oversee and manage all aspects of Customer Services and Service Level Agreements
· Ensure that all subordinates are working in accordance with departments standard operating procedures (upload of documents to E-docs | Quality Checks | Proactively mitigate potential operational errors | oversee and ensure that company slogan IRA, Identify – Report – Action are adhered to | Operating System efficiencies | RCG Compliance | measuring of 3rd party efficiencies | identify, streamline, and implement departmental functions)
· Staff Management – Upskill and Drive development initiatives | Training | Performance Management
· Cost Management – Drive profit margin increase within current SOP’s | minimise any pricing, quotations errors | manage all costs relating to Import department effectively | manage all negotiations, rates, billings, and services with third parties related to Import Department | Ensure that all billing is done time effectively and accurately
· Reporting – Checking and reporting for related financial reports on weekly basis to ensure prompt and accurate month end processing | Ensure timeous payment of Invoices | Compile and manage transaction report vs. GP report | Compile and distribute month end financial and operational reports to senior management
