Operations Manager Position (Domestic/International Courier Operations) - An opportunity has become available for an Operations Manager to join a Market Leader within the Courier & Logistics Industry.

This position will require the complete Operational Management of the day-to-day collections, processing, safe handling, movement, routing, storage and follow up of all parcels collected in accordance with the service standards in accordance with the Company’s standard conditions of carriage.

Minimum requirements will entail:

  • Minimum Matric and a relevant Degree/Qualification
  • At least 3 years’ experience within an operational management position
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Domestic/International Courier/Logistics Operational environment
  • Fully Computer literate (MS Excel  - Advanced will be a pre-requisite)
  • Strong technological skills and understanding of systems and Information Technology
  • Valid Code 8 Drivers Licence
  • Valid Drivers Permit (PDP) will be  advantageous
  • Flexibility with regard to working hours as per operational requirements

Key Performance Areas:

  • Management of all operational staff, ensuring all round supervision, support, training and ongoing development initiatives
  • Monitoring of all collection and delivery processes/performance
  • Isolate problem areas;  implement solutions to ensure 100% on time collections & deliveries
  • Manage all IR procedures (disciplinary, counselling) and ensure that all company policies and procedures are adhered to and fairly applied to all staff in operations
  • Consistently monitor service level and follow up on any service failures
  • Manage all daily liaisons/relations with various carriers and 3rd party agents
  • Monitor all safety and security processes of staff and freight in operational department
  • Conduct weekly meetings with staff and ensure report feedback to Branch Manager
  • Promote and sustain positive and effective communication channels between Operations and all other divisions, departments, branches and agents within the organisation
  • Ensure that all after hours (including weekend/public holiday) operational are managed
  • Manage and oversee all Fleet requirements within the Operations Department
  • Ensure all round housekeeping of Operations Department
  • Report directly into Regional Operations & Branch Management
